Tratto vs Resend: where the data lives, and where Resend is ahead.

Tratto is a transactional and marketing email API that stores and sends everything in the EU. Resend lets you choose an EU sending region, but documents that account data, email metadata, logs and API records are stored in the United States whatever region you pick. That is the one architectural difference; on maturity, templating and ecosystem, Resend is ahead.

Resend figures come from resend.com/docs/dashboard/domains/regions and resend.com/pricing, read on 24 October 2026. If they have changed, the table is wrong, not them: write to [email protected]. On Tratto, each recipient (to, cc or bcc) counts as one email.

The difference that matters: where the data lives

“All account data, including email metadata, logs, and API records, is stored in the United States regardless of the sending region you select.”

Choosing Ireland on Resend moves where mail is sent from; recipients, subjects, delivery logs and API records are still stored in the US. Tratto keeps all of it in EU regions of Google Cloud and AWS, and names every provider and region on the sub-processors page. If nobody asks you where your processing happens, this is a non-issue and Resend's maturity probably wins. If you answer procurement questionnaires, work in a regulated sector or have a DPO with opinions, that sentence is the whole conversation.

Where Resend is ahead

Maturity: they have been doing this longer, at more volume, with a bigger team. Templating: React Email gives them a component-based workflow, and Tratto has no equivalent. Ecosystem: more integrations, more community, more answers when something breaks at 2am. Tratto also lacks an SMTP relay today; it is on the roadmap, with no date.

When to choose which

Choose Resend if you want the most mature developer experience available, you like React-based templates, and US data storage is not a constraint for you.

Choose Tratto if EU data residency is a requirement, not a preference, and you would rather have a newer, smaller product that keeps everything in one jurisdiction, with transactional email, campaigns and flows in one API.

Questions

If I choose Resend's Ireland region, does my data stay in the EU?
Not according to Resend's own documentation: the sending region decides where mail is sent from, while account data, email metadata, logs and API records are stored in the United States regardless of the region you select.
Is Tratto a drop-in replacement for Resend?
No. Tratto has its own REST API and its own SDKs for Node.js, Python and PHP, so switching means changing the client code. An SMTP relay is not available yet; check the documentation against what you use today.
How do the free tiers compare?
Resend Free is 100 emails a day and 3,000 a month, with 3 domains. Tratto Free is 3,000 emails a month with no daily cap, with 3 domains.
What happens when I reach my monthly quota on Tratto?
Sending stops until the next month or a plan change: there is no overage billing and no per-contact pricing, and contacts are unlimited on every plan. The dashboard shows how much of the quota you have used.
